This year's 58th MOS fair, which took place from 16 to 20 September 2026, was designed completely differently than previous fairs. The strategic direction of the Celje Fair was to make MOS the largest international fair of opportunities and cooperation. The strategic focus of the fair was on business opportunities for industry, for innovation and an advanced economy.
This year, the intersection of science and economy, as a project of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth (MIZM), presented itself with completely new innovations. In ten years, a total of more than 350 innovations have been presented, and during this time, more than 50 partners, faculties, institutes, universities, scientific research centers and high-tech companies have participated in this project.
This year, the presentation included various technological fields, professional fields and scientific disciplines from mechatronics, electronics, automation, robotics, bionics, energy, ICT, space technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity with a presentation of the digital forensics laboratory by FERI of the University of Maribor. The presentation also included industry 5.0, new business models, the development of digital and biodigital - bionic twins. The presentation within the framework of the intersection of science and economy already covered the guidelines of biodigital convergence, the development of new materials and nanotechnology.
The following companies stood out in terms of the number of innovations and high-tech products: Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics, University of Maribor, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. Numerous technological and scientific achievements were also presented by the Institute of Chemistry from Ljubljana, Jožef Stefan Institute, University of Nova Gorica, Scientific Research Center RUDOLFOVO from Novo Mesto and IZUM. The Competence Center for Chips and Semiconductor Technologies was also presented. SRIP Health and Medicine, ARIS, European University Alma Mater, SIS EGIZ, College of Professional Studies for Bionics in Ptuj, Agricultural Institute of Slovenia and many others. Of the high-tech companies, the top innovations this year were presented by Skylabs doo from Maribor in the field of space technologies with an emphasis on nanosatellites and support systems and the company RLS doo from Komenda in the field of technological solutions for robotics, medicine and electric vehicles. Bionic innovations were presented by Janez Škrlec, who has been the head of the intersection of science and business since 2016. He presented a portable multifunctional laboratory for the education of bionics engineers. This year, two experts stood out, namely with innovations in the field of advanced optical sensors based on optical fibers, prof. ddr Denis Đonlagić and prof. dr Aleš Holobar in the field of system software, intelligent systems supported by artificial intelligence. Both experts lead various laboratories at FERI of the University of Maribor. Bionics and the Ptuj College of Professional Studies were also presented excellently this year. The Ptuj College of Professional Studies is also the only one that educates in bionics in engineering.
The Slovenian Competence Center for Chips presented itself exceptionally well at the MOS fair, acting as a central national hub for promoting knowledge, innovation and development in the field of electronic, photonic and quantum chips and semiconductor technologies. The project brings together a consortium of leading Slovenian research and education institutions, including the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics of the University of Ljubljana, FERI of the University of Maribor, the University of Nova Gorica, the "Jožef Stefan" Institute and the Nanocenter Center of Excellence. The Competence Center provides companies, researchers and students with professional training, workshops, development consulting and easier access to advanced technological infrastructure, pilot lines and design tools both in the domestic environment and at the EU level. With co-financing under the European Chips Act (European Chips Act / Chips JU) initiative, KC Chip.si strives to strengthen technological sovereignty, encourage knowledge transfer to the economy and place Slovenia on the global map of specialized semiconductor solutions.
Within the framework of the intersection of science and economy, engineering professions and modern educational programs were also presented. The visitors were dominated by young people, from primary school children, high school students, students, researchers to representatives of development research and educational institutions. The intersection of science and economy was also visited by Mr. Andrej Vastl, Acting Director General at the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth (MIZM).
