As the mission of the institution, we define the concept of lifelong learning towards providing quality education and training in the fields of technology and natural sciences, whereby we set as a challenge the inclusion of the importance of graduate employability in the context of study programs.

The main goal of the Ptuj University of Applied Sciences is quality and excellence, diversity and accessibility. In its activities, it will cooperate with research institutes and the economy and non-economy, and pay special attention to better personnel cooperation between individual knowledge institutions. Among other things, an important goal is to identify the necessary requirements and needs of employers for the knowledge and skills of employees and future employees, and to strengthen awareness that individuals increase their self-confidence through learning, develop creativity, entrepreneurship, skills and qualifications that they need for active participation in economic and social life. The Ptuj University of Applied Sciences thus fills numerous untapped opportunities in the development of interdisciplinary sciences (for example, bionics) at the national level and forms a scientific educational institution that successfully integrates into the international environment and modern trends. Our goals are aimed at developing and connecting all areas of educational and scientific research work at various levels:
at the local and regional level, at the national level in terms of the importance of the development of modern interdisciplinary sciences in the area of Slovenia and by contributing to increasing the development capacities of our country and thus the competitiveness of the Slovenian economy, especially in the development of an advanced technological society. At the international level, our goals are focused on connecting with foreign institutions (research, economic and others) in the wider European and global space, thereby expanding the network of knowledge and accessibility to new achievements in the field of interdisciplinary sciences.
The College in Ptuj will, through its activities, influence the acceleration of the realization of the objectives of the Regional Development Program for Podravje and the Regional Development Program for Spodnje Podravje in the field of knowledge or human resources, which will contribute to overcoming certain problems at the regional level: low educational structure of the population, which hinders development, highly educated personnel remaining in other university centers, structural mismatch in the labor market, lack of certain professional profiles, insufficient connection of educational and research work with the environment, and insufficiently developed lifelong learning.
The concept of the University of Ptuj is designed so that it can contribute to increasing the development capacities in its region and at the national level of the entire Slovenia through research and pedagogical work. Based on the analysis of the needs of companies, it is necessary to organize new areas of education, while at the same time encouraging young people, the unemployed and those already employed to join these programs. There is a great need for new higher education programs in the area of Spodnje Podravje. The goal is to introduce programs that meet the needs of the economy.
Through their representatives in the Senate and the Student Council, students will also have the opportunity to actively express their interest in modernizing study programs. Students will be offered: counseling services related to enrollment, the possibility of recognizing exams from other study programs, assistance in concluding contracts for performing practical work, etc. We will also encourage student mobility. In self-evaluation procedures, which will be carried out at least once per academic year, students will evaluate the work of lecturers in individual subjects, teaching literature, the institution as a whole, the management of the institution, and the attitude of employees. The results of the self-evaluation will be analyzed annually. All stakeholders will be informed of the report.
