Similar content detector and repository of independent higher education and post-secondary education organizations

The University College in Ptuj has officially joined the use of the software for detecting similar content in the Slovenian language and the repository of independent higher education and post-secondary education organizations.

 

Similar content detection software enables the identification of similarities between inserted documents and other documents in the
database used by this software.

The software solution is adapted to the analysis of texts in the Slovenian language (it takes into account the inflection of the language and synonyms), which is its main advantage compared to competing products that are primarily focused on checking texts in the English language.

The repository of independent higher education organizations provides functionalities intended for administrators and functionalities intended for users. The administrative part is used by clerks in study offices, librarians and system administrators. Clerks review students' final theses.
Librarians review student and employee publications, catalog them in COBISS, and transfer their metadata from COBISS.SI to the repository, which is connected to COBISS.SI by integrating into various metadata aggregators (OpenDOAR, ROAR, BASE, WorldCat, etc.) and search engines (Google, Google Scholar, Google Dataset Search, Bing, etc.).

The user part of the institutional repository is divided into a part intended for the interested public and a part intended for registered users (students and university employees; different designs for individual universities). After registration, students and employees of higher education institutions can submit their works to the repository and view their content (metadata and similar works found by the similar content detector). The part accessible to the interested public is bilingual (Slovenian and English user interface) and is accessible online and on mobile platforms (Android and IOS). The web version is friendly to users with special needs and contains the main features of web applications that comply with the WAI specification. The web interface allows use by disabled people with reduced mobility and people with slightly impaired vision (e.g. the elderly and visually impaired).

The Slovenian Wood Protection Society and the Wood Council, in cooperation with Spirit Slovenia, invite you to the opening of the Čar Lesa 2025 exhibition, which will take place at the Avla exhibition center in Talum in Kidričevo on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 2 p.m.

Those present will be addressed by:

Marko Drobnič, President of the Management Board of Talum,

Anton Leskovar, Mayor of the Municipality of Kidričevo,

Roman Medved, exhibitor and director of the company Mizarstvo Bioles,

Prof. Dr. Franc Pohleven, initiator and organizer of the exhibition The Charm of Wood,

Dejan Židan, State Secretary at the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport, who will officially open the exhibition The Magic of Wood.


The opening will be enlivened with musical performances by students from Ptuj High School.

The program will be coordinated by Ms. Špela Jamšek, Talum Kidiričevo.

Eco Festival

On Saturday, September 27, 2025, we attended the Eco Festival in Ptuj.

We collaborated with other organizers in promoting sustainable living, which was successfully implemented as part of the 1st Eco Festival in Ptuj.

We presented the Circular Net project and participated in sustainable practices on the importance of protecting the environment through various activities.

The organizers of the event were the City of Ptuj and Public Services Ptuj, in cooperation with the Public Institute Ptuj, the Tourist Association Ptuj and the ZRS Bistra Ptuj.

57th International Crafts Fair in Celje 2025

This year, we participated in the International Crafts Fair as part of the Science and Economy Intersection. Within the framework of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, we presented the school's work in the field of Bionics. More than twenty research institutions, faculties and high-tech institutions presented themselves.
Special thanks go to Mr. Janez Škrlec, a supporter and connector of science and business, who is responsible for promoting Bionics and the College of Engineering in Ptuj at the event. 

The Ptuj College also contributed to obtaining a special recognition for the presentation of high-tech innovations at the 57th MOS.

Circular Economy Education Program "Circular Net"

We will begin implementing the circular economy educational program "Circular Net", which we are preparing in cooperation with cross-border educational partners. 


Course objectives:

After completing the course, participants are qualified to:

1. collecting and transmitting the necessary data for preparing a sustainability report within the company.

2. independently preparing a sustainability report for companies.

3. Competent preparation of chapters E1 (climate change) and E5 (circular economy) in the sustainability report.

4. development of a comprehensive corporate sustainability strategy.

5. taking full responsibility for sustainable management and implementing a sustainable strategy within the company.

6. Management competencies necessary to achieve the goals of the circular economy. These knowledge and skills are acquired through the educational process.
