The fundamental goal of the higher education professional study program "Bionics in Engineering" is to educate graduates with interdisciplinary knowledge of natural sciences, engineering and mechatronics, taking into account ecology and the efficient use of resources. After completing their studies, they will be able to enter the work process in economic organizations, private and public companies, in administration or continue their studies.

The program is designed to be highly interdisciplinary. Students will primarily acquire knowledge from natural sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics), engineering (energy, mechanics, sensors, actuators, automation), ecology, and sustainable development. In the elective part, students choose to study the development of bionic products and processes or production management.

The program consists of three parts. In the first part, the student acquires basic professional theoretical knowledge of natural sciences. In the second part, the theoretical knowledge is upgraded with professional technical knowledge with an emphasis on efficient energy use and sustainable development. In the third, optional part, the student decides to study in-depth the development of bionic processes or production management with an emphasis on quality.

What does the program allow?

  • acquiring basic knowledge through the study of theoretical principles;
  • training in the application of theoretical knowledge in solving practical problems, especially in transferring solutions from nature to technology;
  • communication with experts in natural sciences and technology (biologist and technician);
  • development of communication skills and abilities, cooperation and competence, professional critical thinking and responsibility, initiative and independence in decision-making and management of demanding projects.

The study program will enable students to acquire in-depth professional knowledge in the fields of engineering and natural sciences. This knowledge has practical value, as graduates will be trained to use and transfer theoretical knowledge into practice and thus to solve technical problems.

The fundamental goal of the higher education professional study program "Bionics in Technology" is therefore to train experts with key knowledge of natural sciences and professional knowledge of technology. The profile of the graduate will follow the guidelines of European development, with the desire to achieve environmentally friendly and energy-efficient sustainable development.

Competencies acquired by the graduate

  • ensures moral and ethical action – that is, honesty, accuracy and conscientiousness at work;
  • plans and organizes own work and the work of others;
  • ensures the quality and effectiveness of work in the work environment, in accordance with the standards and rules of the profession;

What do graduates think about us?

Graduates of the College of Arts in Ptuj

The study gave me additional knowledge and a view of the world outside the established framework, which is what bionics offers. The advantages of the study: good organization, flexibility, neatness of the school, accessibility and responsiveness of the lecturers. I gained a lot of knowledge in the field of environmental protection, which I also need in my everyday work. Given the level of education, I received a suitable index, consequently a higher salary. By completing my studies, I also did something for my personal satisfaction. Bionics has a very great importance and impact on technology, the environment, because we find it in everyday life, but we are not even aware of it. Nature actually teaches us how to make things simple, efficient and friendly to the world we live in, and this is where Bionics comes in, allowing us to view the world from a broader perspective. In the future, I see the profession of bionics as being present in all companies and becoming one of the most respected professions.

graduate
I decided to study because I recognized the added value compared to already known studies, such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, etc. I saw that I could upgrade the knowledge I have with a different approach to thinking. My experience is that the school did its utmost to make our studies easier, in terms of adjusting the lecture and practice schedules, considering that we studied part-time. The professors were also always available for any help and conversation. I gained some new knowledge, and above all, I gained a different perspective on solving certain problems, and not least, I was promoted at work due to completing my studies. Bionics is of enormous importance for technology and the environment. We all talk about coexistence with nature, environmental protection, climate change, etc. If we observe nature and try to transfer this into technological products or operating principles, I think this will be a great advance for both environmental protection and the advancement of the state of technology. In my opinion, Bionics is one of the leading disciplines in practically all fields of technology. I work in the field of energy, and I see great potential for bionics here.

The study has given me the opportunity for more suitable employment, additional knowledge and a higher level of education. It is also important that the school is located near me and the competence of the lecturers. I have gained a higher level of education, the possibility of advancement in employment, knowledge of bionic examples from nature to technology. Bionics has a great impact on the environment and technology by taking into account and preserving ecology, efficient use of energy and sustainable development. Bionics will be very important in the future in companies that depend on ecological standards. It will offer the opportunity to develop, with the desire to achieve a sustainable and energy-efficient development of companies.
